Brands can now enable BOM Guardrail when tracing the supply chain of a PO to guide and validate material declarations against their Bill of Materials (BOM).

When BOM Guardrail is enabled, Tier 1 suppliers declare materials using the material types defined in your BOM (for example, Shell Fabric, Lining Fabric, or Midsole) and select materials directly from your BOM master data instead of manually entering them. This helps ensure that all expected material components are declared and traced to their source.

BOM Guardrail supports two enforcement modes:

  • BOM Guardrail – Block

The Block mode prevents suppliers from submitting incomplete or non-compliant declarations.
    1. Suppliers can select only suppliers and materials available in the BOM.
    2. All expected materials must be declared before the response can be submitted.
    3. Every submitted declaration is fully validated against the configured BOM, eliminating the need to follow up on incomplete declarations.

  • BOM Guardrail – Notify

The Notify mode provides visibility into BOM deviations without preventing submission.
  1. Suppliers can select materials from the BOM, edit BOM values (with a mandatory reason), or add materials not present in the BOM.
  2. Brands can compare expected and declared materials, identify discrepancies, and request revisions where required.
  3. All BOM changes and exceptions are captured in the report, available on demand under PO Tracing > Reports, providing a complete audit trail of supplier amendments.

Key Benefits for Brands

  • BOM-driven traceability – Ensure material declarations align with your Bill of Materials for more complete and accurate traceability.
  • Flexible compliance controls – Choose Block to enforce complete declarations or Notify to monitor deviations while supporting phased supplier adoption.
  • Comprehensive auditability – Track supplier changes, BOM exceptions, and declaration history through the Amendment Summary report when using Notify mode.

Key Benefits for Suppliers

  • Guided material declaration – Select materials directly from the brand's BOM, reducing manual entry and improving accuracy.
  • Clear completion status – Easily see declaration progress for each material type.
  • Controlled flexibility – In Notify mode, edit BOM values or add new materials with a documented reason, ensuring all changes remain visible to the brand.

This enhancement helps brands improve the accuracy, completeness, and auditability of material traceability while giving suppliers a structured and guided declaration experience that supports evolving regulatory and compliance requirements.
